Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon

Vienna Price never planned on going to Oregon.  But her circumstances changed drastically when she lost her job.  Her mother wants her to share her home with her.  But they have never really saw eye to eye on things.  Matt Quinn never planned on going to Oregon. But a call from his sister sends him to her aid. Matt's sister has just purchased a very rundown B&B and wants his help restoring it.  Vienna's former job is to renovate hotels.  Hope Harbor does it again with two hurting souls.  I really enjoyed reading this book.

Secondary Target by Angela Carlisle

Someone wants Corina Roberts dead.  Twelve years ago her mother and brother were murdered.  Corina and her father moved to Kentucky to build a new life.  She is discovering there is more to the move than her Dad told her about.

Bryce is recently returned from the service and has been in love with Corina for years.  They did not depart on good terms.  Corina turns to Bryce for help when her life is threatened.

I found parts of this book to be slow.  There was more telling than action.  There also wasn't much information given on Bryce's background.  I liked the premise of the story.  But as I stated earlier, it was just a little slow.  The ending was a complete surprise though.

One Last Shot by Susan May Warren

Oaken Fox has one last shot at redeeming his career.  His manager has arranged for him to join an air rescue group in Alaska for a series of real live TV. He's not thrilled with the idea.

Boo Kingston is an EMT with Air Rescue and she has been assigned with teaching Oaken the ropes. She wants nothing to do with him or the TV show.  But if she wants to keep her job she'll have to go along with it.

Right off the bat there is an almost fatal accident.  After several other incidents, it becomes apparent that the accidents are not really accidents at all.

Oaken and Boo both have to overcome some very serious issues in this story.  Boo was shamed on national TV and Oaken feels responsible for his sisters death.  This  was a very good story and I recommend it.

If the Boot Fits by Karen Witemeyer

Samantha thinks her father doesn't really love her and thinks he is trying to pawn her off to the highest bidder.  Taking a break in the garden during the party she spies someone running away from the house after they had been in her fathers office.  Asher has been looking for evidence that Samantha's father has swindled his family.  As he is running away, he loses a boot.  Sound like a familiar story.  He saves the life of Samantha's brother as he is running away.  During the story several attempts are made on Samantha's life and Asher is there to save her.

During this book Samantha realizes her father does love her and really doesn't care if she marries.  Asher also learns that Samantha's father is really not a bad person.

I found this book to be an enjoyable read.  It had a little mystery and a little romance all in one. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Never Fall Again by Lynn H. Blackburn

Landry has worked hard for three years to get her life back together after her abusive husband died.  She took her daughter and ran because her in-laws despised her and wanted her daughter.  Now she is working at a high end resort as an artist in residence and selling her crafts.  When a fire destroys the area she teaches in as well as all of her crafts items, she is devastated.   Other things begin to happen which makes her wonder if her in-laws have found her.  Cal is her next door neighbor and a artisan as well.  He is also a contractor.  Cal has been hurt in the past with a women that had children and he vowed never to get involved with another women who has a child.  As the story unfolds, he keeps getting drawn to Landry and her daughter Eliza.

This is not a book that I thought was a typical Lynn Blackburn book.  There didn't seem to be as much action as in her other books.  I was still a great book and one I would recommend to everyone.

Trapped in Yosemite by Dana Mentink

Overall this was a very good book.  It had a lot of action.  It starts out with Stella witnessing a murder.  As she's running away, there's an earthquake.  She finds herself trapped at a resort with none other that her old boyfriend, Von.  The mystery kept be guessing right up till the end.

The negative aspect of this book is that she lived with her former boyfriend and had a baby with him.  He doesn't know the baby is his till the middle of the book.  There was never anything really mentioned about that not being the way a Christian should live their life.  I would not want my teenage granddaughters to read the book and think living together before marriage was ok.  In the description it is listed as a Christian book.   For this reason, I giving the book 3 stars instead of 4.

One Final Target by Janice Cantore

Jodie and Sam are each struggling with why are they alive.  Jodie lost her team in an IED explosion and Sam lost his partner is a fiery car crash.  Jodie was not seriously injured.  Sam received burns that left him slightly disfigured.

Jodie and Sam must work together to find out why Jodie is still being targeted.  Now that Sam is trying to help her, he is now a target also.

This is a good mystery with lots of action.  I did think I had it figured out who the culprit was.  I was right. But the story leading up to the reveal was good. Jodie and Sam's struggles are also dealt with and the reader is given a good understanding of what they are going through.

Undercover Colorado Conspiracy by Jodie Bailey

Thalia and Phillip are military investigators.  They go undercover to investigate an adoption agency they think is defrauding people.  While investigating someone tries to kill them several times.  They wonder if more is going on besides the adoption ring.

I enjoyed the mystery of this book.  Thalia and Phillip have worked together on many cases and can almost read each others minds.  The problem with that is now they are starting to have feelings for each other.  In spots there seemed to be too much internal dialogue with themselves.  I found myself skimming some of that. It was written well enough that I wasn't able to determine who the bad guy was.

This is the story of the four women of the Rocking K Ranch from 1850 to 1910.  Eleanor and her family are abandoned by the wagon train when her family is stricken with smallpox.  Grace is Eleanor's daughter who also had smallpox.  Her face he horribly scared and she keeps it covered.  Caroline is meets Ray Cooper, Grace's son.  Ray is an Indian who has a law degree from Harvard.  Then there's Penelope.  She is Ray and Caroline's daughter.  She is an author who is trying to get published. I enjoyed reading all these stories about these women who survived the trials of the west.

Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley

Dani Bennett has no memory of the first few years of her life.  She witnessed the murder of her parents.  Her uncle wisks her away and raises her as far away as he can get from where the murders took place. Dani's grandmother has been searching for her for 25 years.  She is convinced that the picture she saw in a pottery magazine is her granddaughter.  She has her k-9 officer friend Mark Lassiter track Dani down.  This sets off a series of assaults and murders.  Someone doesn't want Dani to remember what she saw the night her parents were murdered.

This book kept me guessing all the way to the end.  Another great book by Ms. Bradley.

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey

Christian O'Brady was once a con artist and thief, trained by his parents to help them.  He is now a PI and security consultant trying to make amends for what he had done.  Andi Forester is a former FBI Forensic analyst.  She was framed by colleagues and is now working as an insurance investigator.  Christian and Andi meet while working an art gallery theft.

At times it seemed like there was two stories going on.  One was where Christian's brother and Andi's friend were investigating the case where Andi was framed.  The other was the art thefts.  Overall it was a good book and I was not disappointed in the story.  It was a good mystery and kept me guessing. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Chasing the Horizon by Mary Connealy

Beth has rescued her mother, Ginny, from an insane asylum and they are headed west by wagon train to escape from her fathers wrath.  This was a time in history when a husband had full control over his wife and could commit her to an asylum without any proof of insanity.  Beth's father wanted Ginny's money that was tied up in a trust.  He figured he could get his hands on it with her being insane.  Beth and Ginny head west.  The scout thinks Beth and her party are hiding secrets.  But a lot of people heading west are.  Jack takes extra care to insure they are ok along the way. Of course Beth's father catches up with them.  You'll have to read the story to find out what happens.

This story doesn't have the usual humor thrown in that I have come to expect from Ms. Connealy.  But it is still a good book.  It shows the hardships that the pioneers had to face while traveling west.  I look forward to reading the next story in this series.
