The story starts with Melody running away from home because her father is forcing her into an arranged marriage. He wants her to marry someone from Scotland who she has never met. Melody wants to marry a person of works for her father. Melody soon learns that her boyfriend is just after money and runs away from him to her old governess. This is story of her misadventures and finding her true love. She ends ups going to Scotland has a companion.
Some of the circumstances in this book seemed rushed and farfetched. I can't imagine a father disowning his own daughter and telling her he never wants to see her again. Nor the reconciliation happening over night. This was a fun read.
