I would class this book as a romance novel with a little bit of mystery thrown in.  We met Laura in the second book of this series.  It's not necessary Love's Mountain Quest before you read this book.  But is would fill in some of the blanks.  Laura helps the local doctor tend to Aaron, who she shot and was one of her kidnappers, she keeps drawing closer to Nate.  Nate is Aaron's twin brother.  As their story unfolds, they have quite the adventure,  Laura sprains her ankle.  Nate dislocates his shoulder.  Then they encounter an injured Indian and his granddaughter.  All in all a good book.
