Until Our Time Comes by Nicole M. Miller

American horse trainer Adia Kensington is living her dream of working at the famous Janów Podlaski stables in Poland, where they breed the best Arabian horses in the world. But her plans to bring the priceless stallion Lubor to the US are derailed when the German army storms into her adopted country in 1939. Little does she know this is just the beginning of six long years of occupation that will threaten her beloved horses at every turn.

Bret Conway is at Janów Podlaski under the guise of a news reporter, but his true mission is intelligence gathering for the British. That and keeping Adia safe, which is harder and harder to do as she insists they must evacuate 250 horses to save them from being stolen, sold, or eaten by the invading forces. What follows will test their physical, mental, and emotional strength, as well as their faith in God, humankind, and each other.

This book had be hooked at the beginning.  Adia was very headstrong about protecting her beloved horses.  Bret is persuaded to promise to keep Adia safe from the invading forces.  Which also means keeping the horses safe.  They try to escape with the horses, but are turned back.  They witness all kinds of destruction along the way. The stables are taken over by the Germans.

The story spans six years.  The beginning to the end of WWII.  You need to read this book to see how Bret assists the resistance and gathers his information and to see how Adia gets involved in espionage as well.

What We Hide by Colleen Coble Coble/Rick Acker

I've read quite a few books by Colleen Coble and thoroughly enjoyed them.  I hate to say that I didn't enjoy this book.  Savannah and Hez are married. But have been separated for several years because of the death of their daughter.  Hez cleans up his act and walks back into Savannah's life expecting her to welcome him back with open arms.  I thought he was rather arrogant.  He mellowed out towards the end of the book.  Savannah needs a good lawyer so she asks Hez to represent her.  I found myself skimming pages while I was reading.  It seemed to take a long time to get anywhere.  It picked up about 3/4th of the way through.

Texas Ranch Cold Case by Virginia Vaughan

As the story begins, Ally is looking for evidence that her mother is buried on the Harmon Ranch.  Then she is shot.  Along comes Tucker Harmon to the rescue.  He is on leave from the Dallas PD SWAT team after getting shot and shooting a suspect. Ally was a child when her mother disappeared and all she wants is answers.  The closer she gets to answers the more her life is in danger.  Tucker and the Harmon cousins want to help Ally close the case as it seems to involve their deceased grandfather.

This is a fast paced mystery with several twists and turns.  I enjoyed reading it.  A good ending to this series about the Harmon cousins.

The Crown Conspiracy by Connie Mann

Sophies character is complicated and a little hard to follow sometimes.  Mac's character was not really defined until half way through the book.  There were a lot of characters that were introduced throughout the book.  It took me a while to figure them all out.  All of that being said. I enjoyed reading this book.  The mystery was good and kept me guessing. There were a lot of surprises in this book.  I'm hoping this is a series because I want to read more about Sophie and Mac.

Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard

I really wanted to like this book.  I've read lots of other books by Ms. Goddard, and have like them all.  This book seemed to start in the middle of Jack and Ivy's story.  I have read the other books in the series.  I guess I needed to go back and re-read the other books before reading this one.  Jack and Ivy spent a lot of time trying to avoid their feelings for each other.  Just come out and say how you feel.  Jack let Ivy leave twice before he was convinced to go after her.  The mystery was good and kept me guessing.

Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon

Vienna Price never planned on going to Oregon.  But her circumstances changed drastically when she lost her job.  Her mother wants her to share her home with her.  But they have never really saw eye to eye on things.  Matt Quinn never planned on going to Oregon. But a call from his sister sends him to her aid. Matt's sister has just purchased a very rundown B&B and wants his help restoring it.  Vienna's former job is to renovate hotels.  Hope Harbor does it again with two hurting souls.  I really enjoyed reading this book.

Secondary Target by Angela Carlisle

Someone wants Corina Roberts dead.  Twelve years ago her mother and brother were murdered.  Corina and her father moved to Kentucky to build a new life.  She is discovering there is more to the move than her Dad told her about.

Bryce is recently returned from the service and has been in love with Corina for years.  They did not depart on good terms.  Corina turns to Bryce for help when her life is threatened.

I found parts of this book to be slow.  There was more telling than action.  There also wasn't much information given on Bryce's background.  I liked the premise of the story.  But as I stated earlier, it was just a little slow.  The ending was a complete surprise though.
