Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills

Therese Palmer is a wilderness survival expert who gets called to search for a kidnapped child.  She reaches out to Texas Ranger Blane Gardner for help, who she has known for awhile. It's a dicey rescue as the child is the child of a Russian professor who is teaching in the US.  He wants no police involved.

The book started out slow.  There was a lot of descriptions about how to hike and rock climb.  I found myself skipping pages to get through all of that.  About half way through the book I felt the actual story line began.  With Therese and Blane going after the child.  I didn't skip a lot of pages in the last half.

I did like the fact that this wasn't a love at first sight book.  Therese and Blane has know each other and had even dated a few times.  Therese wouldn't go out on any more dates with Blane when she found out he wasn't interested in God.

I've always been a fan of DiAnn Mills books.  But this one just didn't hit the mark for me.

Legends of Gold by Mary Connealy

This is second book in the Golden State Treasure series.  I was excited for this book to come out as the first book was very good.  It didn't disappoint.  This book is Josh and Tilda's story.  Tilda arrives at Two Hart Ranch looking for two runaway boys from the orphan train.  Tilda gets a surprise when someone shows up at the ranch claiming to be her brother.  She has always believed she was an orphan and had no family. All is not as it seems.  A great book from start to finish.  The teaser at the end of the book makes me anxious to read the next installment.

Where Secrets Lie by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker

This is the second book in the Tupelo Grove series.  I had high hopes that his book would be better than the first book.  I'm sorry to say that is wasn't.  It was difficult for me to get through it.  I can't say that I will be reading the next installment.

When Stars Light the Sky by Elizabeth Camden

Inga Klein is ask to go to Germany to serve as secretary to the American Ambassador on the brink of WWI.  She feels she owes it to the ambassador as he assisted her and her family when the immigrated from Germany when she was a child.  When Inga gets to Germany she meets Benedict Kincaid.  He is the diplomatic chief of staff.  They are complete opposites.  He is very straight laced and severe.  Inga is fun loving and outgoing.  They both struggle with their jobs trying to keep one step ahead of the was.  When it is discovered that Inga is not a US citizen and won't be allowed to leave Germany a marriage of convenience is suggested so she can leave as the spouse of an American citizen.

I enjoyed reading Inga and Benedict's story as well as being reminded about some of the back history to the US involvement in WWI. This was a good book and I would recommend.

Lethal Reunion by Lacey Baker

This was an ok book.  The story line was good but I just couldn't really get into it.  There was a lot of repetition that I though dragged the book out.

Every Deadly Suspicion by Janice Cantore

This is a fast paced who-dun-it.  Hanna Keyes is the Chief of Police in a small town that has had its scandals.  The biggest scandal is that Hanna's father, Joe, is serving a life sentence for multiple murders.  The book starts out with Hanna witnessing a plane crash.  This leads to several more murders and they all seemed to be connected to Joe Hanna.  The mystery is well thought out.  By the end of the book I did have the bad guys figured out.  There was some repetition with the story of the old murders.  But overall a great book.
