Breach of Trust by Rachel Dylan

Corporate litigator Mia Shaw suffers the shock of her life when she finds her colleague and friend brutally murdered. Grief-stricken and furious, Mia vows that she will do anything to seek justice and make the killer pay.

The man accused of the murder is a friend of security tech guru Noah Ramirez, but the evidence just doesn't add up. To save his former ATF partner, Noah needs to convince Mia that the real killer is still on the loose.

Mia soon has more than the criminal prosecution to worry about, however. She is tasked with taking over her friend's last case and learns he was hiding secrets about his client. She thinks she may have stumbled upon corporate espionage that has turned deadly, but she has no idea of the danger involved. Her only ally is Noah, despite their difference of opinion on the homicide case. Can he win Mia over to his side and protect her from ever-growing threats?

Another great book in the Atlanta Justice series by Rachel Dylan.  This is the third book in the series.  It can be read without reading the first two books.  They were good books also.  So you should read them.

Mia's faith is tested to the limits when she finds her friend Chase murdered.  Then there are the attempts on her life.  Not once, but several times.  Noah is trying to prove the innocence of the person she believes is responsible for Chase's murder.  As the evidence mounts, it looks like Noah might be right.  But then who is guilty?  You need to read it and find out all the plots and subplots.  I recommend this book to all who like a great mystery.

With This Pledge by Tamera Alexander

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Clouston's quietly held principles oppose those of the Southern Cause-but when forty thousand soldiers converge on the fields of Franklin, Tennessee, the war demands an answer. The Carnton home, where she is governess, is converted into a Confederate field hospital, and Lizzie is called upon to assist the military doctor with surgeries that determine life or death. Faced with the unimaginable, she must summon fortitude, even as she fears for the life of Towny, her fiancé and lifelong friend.

As a young soldier lies dying in Lizzie's arms, she vows to relay his final words to his mother, but knows little more than the boy's first name. That same night, decorated Mississippi sharpshooter Captain Roland Ward Jones extracts a different promise from Lizzie: that she intervene should the surgeon decide to amputate his leg.

Lizzie is nothing if not a woman of her word, earning the soldiers' respect as she tends to the wounded within Carnton's walls. None is more admiring than Captain Jones, who doesn't realize she is pledged to another. But as Lizzie's heart softens toward the Confederate captain, she discovers that his moral ground is at odds with her own. Now torn between love, principles, and pledges made, she struggles to be true to her own heart while standing for what she knows is right-no matter the cost.

What a great book.  It brought the Civil War battle of Franklin, TN to life.  What a tragic event in our history.  So much loss of life.  This book told the story of the aftermath of the battle.  The wounded were brought to Carnton for help.  Lizzie was the governess who was pressed into service as a nurse.  Roland was one of her patience.  He made her promise that no matter what she wouldn't let the surgeon amputate his leg.  She kept that promise.  But did she make the right decision?

I recommend this book.  It was more interesting to be when I found out it was based on true people. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Code of Valor by Lynette Eason

What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend's cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe--and catch those who would see her dead.

Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn't trust many people. And even though she let the detective who saved her life in on a few pertinent facts about why she was being attacked, there are some things you just don't share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that the secret she is keeping just might get them both killed.

Another great book by Lynette Eason.  An edge of your seat book that I couldn't put down.  There is action throughout the entire book.  Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, there was a twist. I love how the entire St John family comes together to help each other.  When one of them is in trouble they are there immediately.  This is book three in the Blue Justice series.  It's not necessary read the first two.  But they are so good so I'd recommend them.  I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

In Too Deep by Lynn H. Blackburn

When the dive team is called in to recover a body from a submerged car, they aren't prepared to find an encrypted laptop--or an unsettling connection between investigator Adam Campbell and the dead accountant.

Adam turns to his friend Dr. Sabrina Fleming--a professor at the local university with unparalleled computer security and forensics skills--to recover the files from the laptop. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier the investigation becomes. When evidence uncovers a human trafficking ring and implicates members of Adam's own family, he and Sabrina will have to risk everything to solve the case.

This is another winner for Ms. Blackburn.  It was well worth the wait.  The mystery was great as well as the romance.  I did find it hard to believe that Sabrina and Adam could work after almost getting blown up.  But like a movie, anything is possible.  This is a great book and I had trouble putting it down.  I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Mind Games by Nancy Mehl

Kaely Quinn's talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she's demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis.

When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely's, the reporter's ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem's predictions, the threat is undeniable, and the FBI sends Special Agent Noah Hunter to St. Louis.

Initially resentful of the assignment, Noah is surprised at how quickly his respect for Kaely grows, despite her oddities. But with a brazen serial killer who breaks all the normal patterns on the loose, Noah and Kaely are tested to their limits to catch the murderer before anyone else--including Kaely herself--is killed.

What a good book.  You don't know who the bad guy is til the very end.  Kaely is a unique individual who has some big emotional issues from her childhood.  She doesn't make friends because she doesn't trust anyone.  People she has trusted before have turned out to be untrustworthy.  The story has an ending but it leaves it wide open for the next book.  I am looking forward to the next book with anticipation.

The Lieutenant's Bargain by Regina Jennings

Hattie Walker dreams of becoming a painter, while her parents want her to settle down. As a compromise, they give her two months to head to Denver and place her works in an exhibition or give up the dream forever. Her journey is derailed when a gunman attacks her stagecoach, leaving her to be rescued by a group of Arapaho . . . but she's too terrified to recognize them as friendly.

Confirmed bachelor Lieutenant Jack Hennessey has long worked with the tribe and is tasked with trying to convince them that the mission school at Fort Reno can help their children. When a message arrives about a recovered survivor, Jack heads out to take her home--and plead his case once more.

He's stunned to run into Hattie Walker, the girl who shattered his heart--but quickly realizes he has a chance to impress her. When his plan gets tangled through translation, Jack and Hattie end up in a mess that puts her dreams in peril--and tests Jack's resolve to remain single.

I have enjoyed all the books by Regina Jennings that I have read and this one is no exception.  This book is full of fun between Jack and Hattie.  They have known each other since they were children.  But a lot has happened since they were kids.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books about Fort Reno.
