Track of Courage by Susan May Warren

A pop singer is searching for her birth mother in the wilds of Alaska.  She hops a plane at the last minute deciding to head back home.  The plane is hijacked and crashes.  Her and an escaped criminal are the only survivors.  An injured  ex-cop is flying home with his only friend, Caspian.  His dog.  He spots the downed plane and investigates.  There the action really begins.  Trouble follows them everywhere. Life threatening trouble.  I enjoyed this fast paced read and am anxious for the next book in the series to come out.

The actions never quits and keeps you reading waiting to see what will happen next.
